About Me
I’m Lyra (like lyrics) — a journalist, educator, and creative communicator drawn to stories that reveal the humanity behind culture, systems, and everyday life. My work spans arts, music, healthcare, and community reporting, with a focus on ethical storytelling, emotional honesty, and the people behind the headlines.
I hold a BA in Journalism with a minor in Professional Communication Studies from MacEwan University, and I bring more than a decade of experience as a singer-songwriter and music educator into my reporting. Whether I’m interviewing artists, covering live performances, or exploring social and technological issues, I approach every story with curiosity, care, and respect for lived experience.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me swimming, training dogs, or writing songs.
“Forever is composed of nows.”
Emily Dickinson
